Go beyond traditional PTZ
Traditional PTZ cameras can cover large areas but when you zoom in you create blind spots and that is assuming there is a user viewing the camera at all times which usually isn't the case.
With the Dahua X-Spans range, the PTZ works in conjunction with an up to 180 degree overview camera, so that when a person or vehicle is detected, the PTZ zooms in and follows the target, whilst the whole scene is still recorded in up to 8 Megapixel resolution.
Tripwire
Tripwire detection automatically detects when a person or vehicle crosses a virtual line. It can be set up for either entering an area, leaving or both directions.Intrusion
Intrusion detection automatically detects when a person or vehicle enters a predefined area. This could be a no parking zone, an entrance area or where items of value are kept.
Abandoned or Missing Object
The system can automatically detect when an object is left within the field of view or removed.
This allows system users to quickly intervene or find the related footage.
Other detection methods
Other AI features include fence crossing detection, loitering detection, fast moving, parking detection, people gathering and human alarm classification.
CCTV and the prevention of theft
CCTV Systems have been the go to solution for protecting sites from would be theives for years. The problem is that the theives know that the cameras are there and are usually not being watched live.
They will cover their faces meaning that when you view the footage it is too late and you have no chance of catching them. Usually in this case all you will get is a crime number and the Police may not even attend.
We speak to many customers who tell us that in most cases, it isn't even the direct cost of the loss that is the biggest issue. It is the indirect costs through damage caused or lost revenue whilst carrying out repairs or replacing the stolen items.
This includes but is not limited to:
- Missing goods which form part of an order which is then delayed.
- Lost production time due to damage to equipment, missing tools or goods.

Active Deterrence
With Active Deterrence+ which is built into the X-Spans range of cameras, all of this risk is reduced drastically because the cameras will automatically detect a predefined event such as someone entering an area or climbing a fence. The system will then flash the police style red and blue lights and will play a sound which can either be a loud siren or a predefined message.
It will also notify users(s) through either the DMSS App or Smart PSS software. It can also notify a third party Monitoring station where they can directly speak to the site through a Public Address System and track the criminal until they have left site.
Wide Area Coverage
We have been asked many times which camera is the best for wide area coverage. Any PTZ Camera can be classed as a long range camera and will be capable of identifying and individual or vehicle at up to hundreds of metres away, depending on lighting conditions and the zoom level and resolution it is capable of but that is only if there is a way to get the camera to actually look in the right area.
This in itself is difficult with most cameras and the other issue with this approach is that if the PTZ camera is zoomed in, it is not looking anywhere else so effectively you have created a massive, although temporary blind spot.
We firmly believe for this reason that the Dahua X-Spans range is the best way to achieve wide area and long range coverage as the overview camera controls where the PTZ is tracking automatically based on preprogrammed rules whilst still recording an overview of the area.

As the Dahua X-Spans range can cover such a large area with one camera, it offers the most cost effective way to cover large sites
- Cameras can be building mounted and still cover large areas, minimising costly ducting and civils.
- Each camera only needs one network cable and one ip address.
- The cameras are PoE+ so local power supplies are not required.
- The total number of cameras required is vastly reduced due to the intelligent way the PTZ and overview cameras work together.
- The Dahua X-Spans range can be installed using the existing cabling (even if coax) if upgrading an older system.
